Career Training
Proprietary schools include those that provide career-specific training skills, like those needed for truck driving, massage therapy, and lineman jobs.
While these schools often do not require a minimum GPA or college entrance exams, you may be asked to apply and submit a resume or other documentation of previous work experience or educational attainment, based on the program of study. If you are considering one of these programs, evaluate the school just like you might research a college:
- Connect with an advisor or admissions counselor at the school
- Take a tour of the facility
- Talk to a career advisor or mentor and ask them to help you think about how the training can benefit your career
- Consider the costs and make sure the program’s class schedule is a fit for your lifestyle and responsibilities
The Idaho State Board of Education maintains a list of schools that have officially registered with the state.
