2021-2022 Idaho Opportunity Scholarship Award Offers Delayed

At the end of March, applicants for the 2021-22 Idaho Opportunity Scholarship received an email from the Office of the Idaho State Board of Education. Typically, scholarship status notifications are sent in early to mid-April, however, the Idaho legislature’s 2-week recess has delayed this year’s award process.  Students have been told to expect notice of their award status by early to mid-May.

Award notifications will be one of the following:

  • Ineligible: this means students are ineligible for the scholarship either due to GPA, residency, or a late/missing FAFSA. The notification will explain the specific reason. If this is the case, students should apply again next year starting in October.
  • Waitlist: this means students are eligible for the scholarship and meet the criteria but there was not enough funding to award them. Waitlisted students may still be awarded throughout the summer and early fall if other awards are declined or revoked as students decide to attend college out-of-state, take a gap year, and so on. Students should keep refreshing their email.
  • Offered: the student is being offered a scholarship! Students must follow the instructions in the email and complete the required acceptance questionnaire.

Students are encouraged to watch their inbox (including spam folders) and make sure that scholarshiphelp@osbe.idaho.gov is on their safe sender list to reduce the chances of missing an important communication from the Office of the State Idaho Board of Education.

In 2020, over 6,200 Idaho students went to college or pursued technical training using funds awarded by state-managed scholarships.
