The Governor has proclaimed October as Next Steps Month; Time for students to reflect on career goals and start taking steps towards their future.
This time of year, juniors and seniors start thinking seriously about their plans for life after high school. The proclamation recognizes the need for students to make space and time in their lives to explore and consider the options ahead, as graduation approaches.
We’ve put together resources for students to “Take 5” for their future. There are more than 30 activities students can tackle to start making plans for their education and career. By choosing even five of these to complete, they’ll be that much closer to having a plan.
There’s a Next Steps Month guide for educators to help promote the month at their schools. It includes a lesson plan, downloadable activity checklist for students, and recommendations for events or other promotions to help spread the word that it’s time for students to start taking steps towards adulthood.
Next Steps Month coincides with the arrival of Direct Admissions letters and the opening of the Apply Idaho application, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and the applications for scholarships available from the Idaho State Board of Education.
