Special Populations

Each student brings different experiences, strengths, and needs to their college journey. Special populations may include students with disabilities or academic accommodations, English language learners, first-generation students, TRIO participants, and others who may benefit from additional support. This hub helps students from special populations who receive an Idaho Campus Choice direct admissions letter explore resources across Idaho's eight participating public colleges and universities, making it easier to understand what's available and find the right fit for you. 

Academic Accommodations in College

College accommodations work differently than high school accommodations. Students who need academic support or disability-related accommodations are responsible for contacting their institution's disability services office to begin the process.

If you have a 504 plan, an IEP, or another disability-related need, select your institution to learn how to get started. 

English Language Learners

Idaho's public colleges and universities offers dedicated support for English Language Learners, from language coursework and writing assistance to academic advising. Select your institution below to explore the programs available to you.

College of Southern Idaho

CSI offers ELA (English Language Acquisition) courses. To learn more, discuss with your assigned advisor after enrollment.

North Idaho College

NIC offers ESL (English as a Second Language) courses. To learn more, discuss with your assigned advisor after enrollment.

First-Generation Students

Dedicated programs can help first-generation students navigate college life, access academic support, build community, and feel more confident along the way. Select your institution to explore available support.

Secondary Transition

The Idaho Training Clearinghouse offers resources to help students with disabilities plan for life after high school, including postsecondary education, and independent living. Provided by the Idaho State Department of Education, these tools can help students, families, and educators understand transition planning and explore next steps.
